Conducting the Cantigny Junior Golf Program

The following health precautions and standards will be required for reopening the Cantigny Junior Golf Clinic Program in accordance with CDC, local and state government mandates. Our objective is to welcome back customers as safely as possible.

Please be aware of what is expected of everyone once on property:

  • Don’t risk anyone’s health.  If your junior is not feeling well, please reschedule.
  • Everyone is to avoid making any physical contact during a clinic series and maintain the recommended social distancing (six feet).
  • Instructors will wear masks throughout the clinic series.
  • Instructors will not touch golf bags.
  • Instructors will not tee up the golf balls for juniors.
  • Instructors will not use training aids that touch the juniors.
  • Juniors are reminded to not touch their face and wash hands after daily clinic.
  • Juniors may take their own notes with their own pen.
  • Juniors may bring their own water bottle.
  • Juniors will be asked to bring a minimum of 3 golf balls (with identification) for short game instruction. Juniors will use only their balls.
  • Eating during the daily clinic is discouraged.
  • Students are encouraged to bring their own golf equipment. (If borrowing clubs for the clinic series, grips and clubs will be sanitized prior to and after use.)
  • Juniors desiring to hit drivers will bring their own golf tees
  • Juniors are encouraged to wear masks.

New Format:

The junior clinics will be transformed from an “organized youth activity” into a small private lesson series.  The student to instructor ratio shall be 6:1 or less. The instructor will remain with the same small group for the entirety of the series (same juniors & same instructor).  You will meet your assigned instructor in one of the two locations throughout the five class clinic series:

  • Golf Academy
  • Youth Links

Try to have any registration fees and payments agreed to and paid for in advance (on-line electronically). We discourage all day-of registrations.

Designated social distancing zones will be in place for all areas of instruction:

  • One person per cup for putting
  • Chipping lanes
  • Waiting areas behind stations

Players using the range should carry their own clubs to the hitting stations and move practice balls with their club heads (not by hand) to position for hitting.

  • Instructors will demonstrate no touching range balls (irons only), along with recommended safety measure
  • Juniors will use drivers only if they bring their own golf tees.
  • Juniors will bring their own golf balls to the practice putting green (3 minimum).

Operating Procedures

  • Drop Off / Check-in

A staff person will be guiding cars into parking area and designating where to meet up with instructor.

  • Parental Waiting/Pick-up

Back porch is unavailable. Parents may wait in car. At the conclusion of class, we ask that parent or guardian stand outside their vehicle so junior may proceed to them.

  • Introduction

A “welcome” email will be forwarded by email explaining everything parents and students will need to know about the clinic. This will eliminate the need for a group meeting on Day 1.

  • Daily Handouts

All daily handouts will be emailed to the parent / guardian prior to the start of each series.

  • Restrooms

All building doors will remain open during business operations allowing walk-in access without touching. Disposable paper towels will be available to open restroom doors and provide a “barrier” from actual touching of door handles.

The range will have a portable restroom having a hand washing/sanitizing ability and be accessible for children.

  • Inclement Weather Shelter

Golf Academy is NOT to be used as a public shelter.  Classrooms will be safe area to wait out temporary storm/rain.  If upcoming weather is questionable, daily clinic may be rescheduled.

  • Testing

Instructors will provide a “demonstrative experience” as a replacement for a written test. Group play will still be administered at the Youth Links as an on-course test on the final day.
